Missouri Odd Fellows Safety Coffee Break

This Is The Trailer We Store Our Equipment In And John Fox Stores It, And Pulls It To The Events.

This is an community project that St. Louis Lodge #5 started some 15 years ago  to serve Hot Dogs, coffee, iced tea and lemonade to the traveling folks that stop by the rest area we serve these refreshments and now to add to our menu we will be offering a BBQ hot dog plain hot dog or one with chili on it. There is no charge for these refreshments all we hope is that we may save a life or two by refreshing the travelers.

We currently are serving these at the north bound rest area 1 mile north of Bloomsdale Missouri. We owe a great deal of credit for the success of these Safety Coffee Breaks to The Missouri Highway Department for allowing us to use the facilities to serve these refreshments at the rest area's. Their employees assist us in every way possible to make this project a success.  Thank you MODOT.

If you happen to be traveling on I-55 north in Missouri and come by Bloomsdale just one mile north is where you will find us on Memorial Day The Fourth of July or Labor Day from about 11: AM to 5 PM stop by and try one of our world famous dogs. I say world famous because we have had guest from many foreign countries stop by and refresh with us. Some try and pay us for these refreshments, but we tell them we can't take money and their reply is no wonder they call you guys Odd Fellows. This is where our name Odd Fellow came from. In the 17th. century a few good men in England formed a society to assist people in need which was kind of odd, so they started calling them Odd Fellows and we are still proud in this century to say we are Odd Fellows.

Below is a few pictures of some of the Odd Fellows that help at these functions.

This Is Jim "Hot Dog" Reiner world famous hot dog cook.
This is Roy Drennen, Roy has been an Odd Fellow since 1934.
This is Ron on the left the Committee Chairman and our good brother from Farmington Orville Hampton I would try and name the rest of the brothers, but I'm sure I would forget someone and then I would hear it so I will leave it alone.
Since this page was first posted which was 4 or 5 years go some changes have came about. Due to the aging of our members and deaths we have lost our help from other lodge, but we continue with this project as we feel it is a great community project. As with any project things change. As you see above pictures of the past here you will see pictures of the present.
