The Department Council/Department Association Meetings will be held at the Best Western Columbia Inn at 3100 I-70 Drive SE in Columbia, Missouri on April 14-15,2008.  Room rates are $69.00 + taxes for one to four people per room.  There is a free breakfast.

We are there the same weekend as the State High School Basketball Championship Games, thus rooms in Columbia during that time will be at a premium.  We are lucky they will let us have them at this rate.

If you have any intention at all of attending these sessions, suggest you go ahead and make reservations promptly.  You can always cancel later if need be.  BE SURE TO TELL THEM YOU ARE WITH THE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS.

I haven't signed the contract yet, but will probably do it on Monday.  They are holding the rooms for us until they can prepare the contract for us.

    Telephone Number is 573.474.6161.

Other details regarding the session will be sent later on.

The following is being mailed on June 5th to all Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges in Missouri:
June 4, 2007
TO ALL ODD FELLOWS AND REBEKAHS MEMBERS IN THE JURISDICTION OF MISSOURI:
SUBJECT: Missouri Annual Picnic
Sunday, September 16, 2007
Grand Master James Martin and Assembly President Carolyn Schultheis would like to take a new approach to our annual State Picnic.
It is proposed that we congregate on a parking lot/area in Fulton, Missouri then board a motorcoach where we will travel to the Lake of the Ozark Area and board a cruise ship for a 1-1/2 hour cruise and enjoy a prepared lunch while on the water. Total cost is $50.00/person. We would need a minimum of 40 people and a bus can hold 57 passengers. If we get more than the 57, then we have to look at a second bus or a total of about 80 people.
Something new? If you are interested, please send your reservations to Grand Secretary Kenneth Higgins at PO Box 336 in Fulton, MO 65251. Kenny will hold the checks until it is determined that we can get enough people to take the trip. If we can’t then your check will be returned.
Planned date is September 16, 2007. We would leave Fulton no later than 9:30 a.m. and start the cruise at 11:30 a.m. We should get back by 3:00 p.m. Cutoff for making reservations is August 13, 2007. No late reservations can be accepted as I will be leaving on August 15th to go to The Sovereign Grand Lodge Session in Denver, CO., and won’t return until it is too late to handle this.
If you prefer you can drive to the Lake and meet us there for a cost of $28.00 for the cruise, lunch, taxes and gratuities. Finding a place to park there is limited, so want to remind you of this.
Can we hear from you one way or the other on this? To those of you who have e-mail you can send your response to Kenny at kennethhiggins77@sbcglobal.net.Click here to Email Kenny    Can’t accept checks however via e-mail so those have to come in the regular mail.    We must meet the deadline of August 13th or forget the new idea.
Kenneth Higgins, Grand Secretary
